When you need tires for your heavy equipment and industrial vehicles, you can't go to any typical tire shop. You need specialists who carry a large stock of industrial tires, with options for every major type of vehicle - like at the Wheel & Tire Superstore.
We are one of the few full-service tire shops in Texas to have a full stock of industrial tires, alongside our stock of regular tires. That makes us your true one-stop shop for tires, wheels, and upgrades for vehicles of all types.
There are three primary types of industrial tires in Texas, depending on your needs:
Pneumatic tires are the most similar to regular car tires, being made of a long-lasting rubber shell surrounding an inflated inner tube. Pneumatic tires are excellent for ride quality, shock absorption, and operator comfort, and are also best in situations where the vehicle needs to move at a relatively speedy pace. They're typically seen on machines such as forklifts and skid steers.
As the name suggests, solid tires are made of solid rubber with no inflatable element. This makes them substantially more expensive than pneumatic tires. However, they offer the best damage resistance, making them excellent for work in rugged environments or work sites that may be littered with small debris that would puncture pneumatic tires. They're typically seen on machines that move slowly and steadily, such as loaders and earthmovers.
Foam-filled industrial tires split the difference between pneumatic and solid rubber tires. They have a rubber shell with a softer foam inner core. This allows them to be more damage-resistant than pneumatic tires, but they're more lightweight and a bit less expensive than solid tires. These are often the best choice for vehicles that need excellent maneuverability in challenging environments, such as scissor lifts at construction sites.
An expert Texas tire shop can help you choose the best industrial tires for your needs.
Load Capacity: How much weight will the tire be holding, including the vehicle and any associated load? The tires must be able to handle any weight you need in your work.
Tread Patterns: Different tread patterns can have a significant impact on the vehicle's performance, as well as the tire's lifespan and wear. For example, jobs on muddy ground call for much deeper treads than jobs done on blacktop.
Speed Rating: Most industrial tires have set maximum speed ratings, so be sure the tire can handle whichever speed is appropriate.
Lifespan: Which tires will bring you the best long-term value for your investment? The Wheel & Tire Superstore can help!
